Star Denies Anti-Vaxxer Position After Narrating Contentious Pandemic Film
Liam Neeson has lent his vocal talents to a new documentary that questions the legitimacy of immunizations and praises one-time cabinet secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr.
The Documentary's Contentious Basis
Named "Plague of Corruption," the film is adapted from a bestselling book written by a disgraced researcher, who rose to infamy during the global outbreak for assertions that the illness was caused by a problematic version of the flu vaccine.
The book's collaborator, the executive producer, has penned books with far-right media personality the Infowars host. Heckenlively recently posted praising Neeson's involvement in the project.
A Strong Rebuttal
Representatives for Liam Neeson have provided a comment strongly denying claims that he holds anti-vaccine views.
"Everyone can understand that misconduct can exist within the pharmaceutical industry, but that must not be confused with being against vaccines," the response states. "Liam is not, and cannot be described as, against vaccines. His considerable work with Unicef underscores his enduring support for global immunisation initiatives."
It added that the star was not involved in crafting the film's editorial content and that questions about its claims should be directed to the creators.
Major Themes Featured in the Feature
According to the documentary, the script spoken by Neeson features several controversial claims:
- It claims that pro-vaccine voices have insisted on "complete compliance" to public institutions.
- It declares that "science has become deeply politicised."
- RFK Jr is featured claiming, "The big problem with vaccines is that they simply are not properly vetted."
- The narration also criticizes stay-at-home orders, arguing they caused psychological harm that led to the loss of thousands of lives.
- On the topic of Covid vaccines, it references a perspective that they were "rushed to market" and seen as "hazardous tests."
Historical Context and Recent Issues
The documentary includes a historical film about HIV drug testing on children, which was subsequently the focus of a correction by the network for violations of guidelines.
In recent weeks, the political figure called on the CDC to change its official position that there is no connection between vaccines and autism. This assertion is repeated in the film, despite a new report from the global health body confirming no such link has been found.
An Earlier Position of Advocacy
Differing from the film's tone, Neeson has previously voiced clear advocacy for vaccines in his role as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador.
Two years ago, he called vaccines as "an incredible human success story," noting that "The debate about vaccines in the past few years has forgotten how much benefit they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest shared accomplishments in our history."
The documentary concludes with Neeson's script stating, "This isn't the finish of our journey. This is the start of a different phase."
