After enduring heavy downpours that led to inundation across parts of the city, the City of Angels is now confronting abnormally warm temperatures for this time of year.
All-Time High Temperatures
On Friday midday, the temperature climbed to ninety-one degrees Fahrenheit in downtown Los Angeles, per data from meteorologists. This exceeds the previous daily record for February 27th, which was 88°F (31°C) and was set in 2025.
"Exceptionally warm weather" were highlighted on official graphics for the region.
Safety Alerts
Authorities cautioned that Friday's heat posed an "elevated risk for heat illness" for people sensitive to heat. Their guidance suggested:
- Staying hydrated.
- Reducing outdoor activities during the peak heat of the day.
- Never leaving anyone unattended in a hot car.
A Sharp Reversal
This sudden spike in temperature follows closely after a intense storm system that pummeled the region last week. That event unleashed heavy snow, strong winds, and thunderstorms to mountainous regions, causing mudslide risks for millions residents.

Weekend Outlook
The outlook suggests some relief is coming. The heat were forecast to drop to around 16 degrees Celsius (61 Fahrenheit) in downtown LA by overnight.
Additional areas that reached ninety degrees included Long Beach, Burbank, and Woodland Hills. Elsewhere, Westwood, Camarillo, Santa Maria, and Oxnard were projected to reach the high 80s.
Over Saturday and Sunday, downtown LA can expect temperatures in the 80s, with cooler weather on tap for the start of March.
