Former Doctor Accused of Assault Allegations Involving Thirty-Eight Patients
Prosecutors have stated that a former doctor has been charged with committing assaults involving 38 individuals who were under his care.
The Grave Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous acts of sexual assault – including acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.
A senior CPS official stated, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Investigation
These allegations follow what police called a “detailed inquiry” into alleged sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.
List of Charges
The charging documents outline the 45 sexual offences he is charged with:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
