Local Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Automobiles, building surfaces and mailboxes were defaced, occasionally with swastikas, they announced in a statement.
Law enforcement state they were notified late on Wednesday, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish liquid.
The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a banned symbol, they added.
Law enforcement then located many other marked cars and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Police state preliminary tests suggest the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no clue as to where it came from; authorities are presently not informed of any physical harm in connection with the incident," they commented.
Municipal representatives said they were working "to unravel the case" and have requested to the residents for tips.
A high-ranking representative commented the incident made him without words and needed to be solved rapidly.
"This incident hits the core of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the far-right terrorist attack five years ago," he posted on social media, recalling the killing of nine victims by a gunman targeting people of migrant background in 2020.
