The UK is set to progress with employing the total value of immobilized Russia's assets to support Ukraine's war effort, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has declared.

In a shared declaration, the heads of state of the Britain, the French Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany stated that this coordinated action would heighten pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin and persuade the Russian Federation to come to the table.

They clarified that the initiative would be carried out in tight collaboration with the America.

British sanctions have immobilized in excess of £25bn of Russia's assets since Russia began its comprehensive attack against Ukraine in 2022. Yet, until now, funds sent to Ukraine using Russian assets had only been sourced from earnings and returns earned on them.

Sir Keir told President Volodymyr Zelensky that the Britain, the French Republic, and Germany were aligned in their desire to push forward toward using the full value of the frozen Russian sovereign holdings to end the war.

He noted that further sanctions in the coming days and weeks would apply more pressure on the Russian government.

This declaration comes after European Union leaders gathered in the Danish capital previously to consider utilizing frozen Russia's holdings for a 140-billion-euro credit to the Ukrainian nation.

Last month, US President Donald Trump encouraged Group of Seven partners to confiscate or otherwise use seized Russian holdings, based on media sources.
